A Goal for our Planet
.jpg)
I'm very honoured to be taking part in the "Goal What on Earth" project and to be chosen as one of the Invited Artists to design this Globe. My Globe along with 99 other exciting designs by Irish artists will travel round Ireland before being auctioned off for the charity in Oct/Nov. Follow their journey here.
“A Goal for our Planet,” inspired by the work of GOAL, the reasons they are needed, and suggesting “Maslow’s Hiararchy of Needs” as a solution to saving our race and our Planet.
Is it possible to change human behaviour? Our present actions are hurting our Planet.
In 1943 Abraham Maslow put together his Theory based on his observations. He described the stages of growth as being “Physiological”, “Safety”, “Belonging & Love”, “Esteem” and “Self-Actualization”, represented as a pyramid with the basic needs at the bottom and the fifth level at the top being the goal one would hope to achieve.
His theories were elaborated in his book “Motivation and Personality” and have been popular in studies for psychology, management training, sociology and research.
My design shares these needs around our world. Cargo trucks and envelopes carry messages of hope and essential supplies back and forth. Maslow’s Pyramid is painted large asserting its importance. A “wheelie bin” is filled with all the bad stuff that the world needs rid of. The Gold Leaf on the land masses signify the resources equally distributed
